The School employed PR people who submitted articles to local papers, e.g. Cadet Jones of Anytown Promoted To Cadet Corporal. Some of the PR people kept a scrapbook of clippings. Here are some of them.

Howe Speech Teams Top Nationally

During the 1940s and 1950s Howe speech teams were very successful, reaching top national rankings often. The National Forensic League is now known as the National Speech and Debate Association.

For several years the Cadet Choir performed Sir John Stainer’s cantata “The Crucifixion” with guest soloists from South Bend. Boy choirs are still a classic Anglican tradition observed by the Lessons and Carols broadcast each Advent by the BBC.
