Dean is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Joyce (née Hinaris) Koulouras who passed away on April 5, 2025. He graduated from Albion in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to attend the Detroit College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor degree in 1973.
Dean was a highly respected attorney for more than 50 years and formed many lasting connections within his community. Since 2008, he had been repeatedly selected to Michigan Super Lawyers—a distinction awarded to only 5% of attorneys in the state each year.
Dean’s love for his wife, family, extended family, and many dear friends knew no bounds. He cared for each of them deeply, and that love was wholeheartedly returned. Dean and Joyce cherished traveling together, exploring new surroundings on their many trips. They also spent years traveling throughout Michigan in the horse‑racing business, including celebrating a state champion horse. They always returned home with wonderful stories about their adventures and the good times shared with friends.
Both before and after retirement, Dean continued to enjoy golf at his favorite course, Western Golf and Country Club, where he was a lifetime member and served as Club President in 2005. He loved playing in tournaments with Joyce and their friends. Dean also enjoyed meeting friends at the Club for poker games, dinners, and special gatherings. He deeply cherished the entire team at Western, who made the Club feel like his home away from home and his most treasured place to spend an afternoon.
