Howe Summer Camp in 1911
Howe Military School ran a summer camp (summer session) beginning very early in its history. The above photo shows tents along the sidewalk to the Club House (later part of the first White Hall). The tree line in the background is along the east side of Route 9. The sidewalk ran north from what was then the Lower School (later Administration Building) to the Club House. The School touted the Summer Session as a way to make up needed work or to graduate in three years The Howe Herald August 1911 Summer Camp.
Years later, the School leased ground fronting the north shore of Cedar Lake for cabins, a mess hall, and classrooms for campers.
